As salamu `alaykum wa rahmatulLahi wa barakatuHu,
I am a native of South Carolina, a rural state on the south Atlantic coast, where it was possible to enjoy fields of green, so deep that emeralds and our mountains pale beside them, even the ocean's green, my favorite would be jealous. I am married with children (two) and live in a rural setting among rolling hills of green. My herb garden allows me to experiment with different medicinal herbs and plant breeding techniques. I am currently developing a hybrid American ginger, variegating rosemary and cultivating tropical species like lemon-grass in a subtropical environment.
The purpose of this site is to breakdown the communication barrier of Muslim Women today and to bring about a Sisterhood based on Qur’an and Sunnah. Over the years I have known many different Muslim Women of various ages, and the one profound realization I have had in my adulthood is that we talk at each other and not truly to each other. In order to truly breakdown the communication barrier; we need to begin to get past the superfluous conversations and really say what is needed. How can we be “sisters in religion”; and yet, we do not talk to each other as sisters? The question then becomes; “How should sisters talk to each other?” For me, this question can be answered by saying that we communicate in a respectful and truthful manner; realizing that if we truly love and hate for the sake of Allah, then all actions are always guided and checked by our love for Allah.
This is a journey of enlightenment for me and would like for my sisters to join me and become more aware as well, so that we can remove Satan from our ranks. Part of my journey is reading “The Ideal Muslimah”, The True Islamic Personality of the Muslim Women As Defined in the Qur'an and Sunnah by Dr. Muhammad 'Ali AI-Hashimi Translated by Nasiruddin Al Khattab (ISBN 9960-850-39-0). This is a book that I would recommend for all of my sisters to read.
As a result of the journey for sisterhood, in speaking to other sisters; we decided that we needed to begin with our young Muslimahs; therefore we have established this group as a means of communication and a forum to help bring all of our Muslim Sisters together; the young and the young at heart. If you are interested in dialoguing with the group, then visit us on our blog at http: //an-nisa.com/blog, or email us at thesisterhood@an-nisa.com.
